BJP Working to Murder Democracy, Says Gehlot

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s approach is not like someone who believes in democracy, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot said on Wednesday during a protest rally organised by the Congress in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED)'s regional office in Jaipur against the agency's charge sheet that named Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi as accused in the National Herald case.
JAIPUR:
"The BJP is working to murder the democracy in the country. There is no scam in the National Herald as it is a not-for-profit company. Their approach is not like someone who believes in democracy and they are deliberately targeting the main opposition party in the country," Gehlot said.
Slamming the BJP government for allegedly "misusing" the central agencies, he further said: "Before independence, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru started National Herald. Its purpose was to inspire the countrymen to take part in the freedom struggle. Through this, the message of Mahatma Gandhi as well as other great men was conveyed to the country."
"This newspaper was shut down around 2008, so Congress tried to restart it. For this, a company named 'Young Indian' was formed because AJL (Associated Journals Limited (AJL) was unable to pay the money. 'Young Indian is a not-for-profit company, in which commercial work cannot be done. There has been no transaction in it, nor has there been any transaction of money... in such a situation how can money laundering happen?" he questioned.
