The Drive Was Launched After a Directive From the CM During a Meeting With Bureaucrats on Wednesday
JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Police has identified at least 200 Bangladeshi nationals who have been staying in the state illegally over the years, as the department launched a special campaign against the illegal foreign nationals on Wednesday, officials familiar to the matter said on Saturday.
The drive was launched after a directive from chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma in a high-level meeting with the bureaucrats, including home secretary Kumar and DGP Utkal Ranjan Sahoo on Wednesday morning. During the meeting, he directed the police department to intensify surveillance and deport undocumented Bangladeshi nationals.
Director general of the Rajasthan police's intelligence unit Sanjay Agrawal said, "The drive was launched on Wednesday, and since then we have identified 200 illegal Bangladeshi nationals after checking their documents. We are taking preparations to deport them. Meanwhile, thousands of suspects, 86 from Jaipur, were also detained for questioning and document verification."
