GT's Rabada Serving Suspension for Use of Recreational Drug
Hindustan Times Pune
|May 04, 2025
When South Africa pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada left the Gujarat Titans camp and flew home on April 3 after playing two matches, the IPL team said it was to address a "significant personal matter".
NEW DELHI: A month later, on Saturday, Rabada said in a statement that he "returned an adverse analytical finding for the use of a recreational drug".
"I am serving a provisional suspension and I am looking forward to returning to the game I love playing," Rabada said in a statement released by the South Africa Cricketers Association. The statement didn't name the drug or the length of the suspension. Neither GT nor IPL issued a statement clarifying Rabada's situation while media reports from South Africa said he has returned to India.
