Will leave politics if ED charges proven: Harak

Senior Uttarakhand Congress leader and former minister Harak Singh Rawat on Sunday alleged the charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) ina reported money-laundering case linked to land deals in Dehradun, as “fake” and said he will leave politics if charges levelled against him by the central agency are found true.

On Friday, the ED filed a charge sheet in PMLA court Dehradun against Rawat, his wife Deepti Rawat, Birendra Singh Kandari, Laxmi Rana and Smt Poorna Devi Memorial Trust in the case pertaining to the alleged illegal acquisition of two land parcels in Dehradun, whose combined market value exceeds ₹70 crore.

“During the course of investigation, it is revealed that the Deepti Rawat, wife of Harak Singh Rawat and Laxmi Singh Rana managed to register the lands in their name asa result of conspiracy hatched by Birendra

Singh Kandari, Harak Singh Rawat, late Sushila Rani and other people.

“ED investigation revealed that despite the clear order of the Hon'ble Court, Sushila Rani ina conspiracy with other persons registered two power of attorneys of lands situated at Sahas-pur Dehradun,” according to an ED statement.
