Trouble for landholders failing to submit proof

Land owners in the state, who fail to provide any proper land records in support of their claim on the land title, have trouble in store.

PATNA: In such cases, the new khatiyans (record of rights) after verification of the land documents, would have names of those land holders whose names were present in old records, officials said.

Officials said the state revenue department has taken such a decision to ensure that certain unscrupulous persons who have kept land in possession without any valid documents either by encroaching it or by intimidating genuine land holders or other factors are not able to get their names duly registered in the khatiyans to get any legal validity. This would be applicable for those who fail to submit the self-declared forms with land documents along with genealogy charts, as mandated by the special survey norms.
