PM to lay foundation, inaugurate 28 projects worth over ₹5,897cr

PATNA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Siwan visit on Friday would lay the foundation stone and inaugurate 28 projects of urban and housing developments, energy, jal shakti and railways worth ₹5,897.81 crore, said an official on Thursday. The schemes include those of AMRUT, Namami Gange, Pradhanmantri Aawas Yojana (Sahri), Energy department and East Central Railways (ECR). This will be PM Modi's fourth visit to Bihar this year. Assembly election is scheduled in the state in October-November.

The visit is significant for Siwan and nearby districts such as Gopalganj and Saran (Chapra). Gopalganj is the home district of RJD chief Lalu Prasad while Siwan was once the bastion of late RJD MP and muscleman Mohd Shahabuddin. Siwan is the birthplace of the country's first president Rajendra Prasad.
