16 Minors Rescued From West Champaran

Two minor sisters, who were sold off by their mother as sex slaves and orchestra dancers on more than two occasions, were among sixteen minors rescued from West Champaran district in the wee hours of Friday, police said.

Police further said that one of the sisters has allegedly become pregnant for the second time, adding that a majority of them belong to West Bengal and Nepal. 10 persons have also been detained in this connection.

In a video footage, available with Hindustan Times, introducing herself as a resident of West Bengal's Bardhaman, a minor girl accused her parents of pushing her into flesh trade for the sake of money. "My mother sold me off in lieu of ₹10,000 and my sister for ₹5,000. I have been subjected to the sexual assaults and as a result, I am conceived for the second time now... Last time, an eight-month pregnancy had to be aborted," said the minor girl who was rescued from Jagdishpur near Bettiah, taking the name of her tormentors.
