Youth Cong protest sparks political row

NEW DELHI: An outrageous protest by around 15-20 Indian Youth Congress (IYC) members at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi on Friday sparked widespread condemnation and a political controversy, with senior Union ministers calling the act “shameful” and alleging that it was done to malign India’s image.

On Friday afternoon, around 15-20 male IYC members entered the summit venue and took off their T-shirts, which had pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Trump with caption “PM Is compromised” and “India US Trade Deal”. They then held their T-shirts up and shouted slogans against PM Modi and the government over the India-US trade deal. The protest, which came around 12.30 pm in the global event where delegates from multiple countries were in attendance, lasted 10-15 minutes.

Indian Youth Congress chief Uday Bhanu Chib was called for questioning at the Parliament Street Police Station and released late at night.
