INTERROGATION OF THE FIVE ACCUSED, INCLUDING SONAM AND THE ALLEGED MASTERMIND, RAJ KUSHWAHA, REVEALED DETAILS

- Utpal Parashar

GUWAHATI: Meghalaya police on Friday said that the key accused in the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi planned the act in February, three months before the deceased married Sonam, who "played along" with the plan.

The interrogation of the five accused, including Sonam and the alleged mastermind, Raj Kushwaha, has revealed details about the planning and execution of the murder carried out in the East Khasi Hills of Shillong.

"All the accused have admitted to (have committed) the offence. Sonam has admitted her complicity. The whole thing (conspiracy) had happened in Indore. The plan was hatched in February just before her marriage to Raja and the mastermind of this was Raj and Sonam played along with the plan and was a part and partner," East Khasi Hills police superintendent Vivek Syiem said.

The three killers — Akash Thakur, Anand Kurmi and Vishal Chauhan — are friends, Syiem said.
