Govt Plans To Include Online Goods Prices In Retail Inflation

The ministry of statistics and programme implementation plans to incorporate prices of goods sold on e-commerce platforms while calculating monthly retail inflation, a move aimed at capturing costs more comprehensively, an official said, requesting anonymity.

The government could either account for price changes on e-commerce platforms within an updated consumer prices index (CPI) it is likely to unveil early next year, or create a separate index for the e-commerce segment, according to the official.
