UP gears up for record plantation drive on July 9

A mega plantation drive will be held across Uttar Pradesh on July 9, during which 37 crore saplings will be planted.

Citizens are encouraged to participate by planting a sapling and sharing their photograph with the forest department.

This year, the target is to plant 37 crore saplings in a single day—two crore more than last year’s figure. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will take part in the drive by planting a sapling in Orai.

"This year's plantation campaign is expected to be the largest ever, with wide participation from public representatives, government employees, students, farmers, lawyers, doctors, NGOs, and community groups," stated a press release issued by the state government on Sunday.
