5G Net reaches Siachen, soldiers at highest battlefield now connected

Reliance Jio and the Indian Army have collaborated to install the first 5G mobile tower at the Siachen glacier—the world's coldest and highest battleground—to provide improved connectivity to soldiers deployed at one of India's farthest frontiers, the army said on Monday.

The development comes barely two months after the army installed optical fibre at two of its farthest outposts in the Ladakh sector to ensure high-speed broadband connectivity—Siachen and Daulet Beg Oldie.
