Ex-servicemen killed in terror attack in J&K, wife, niece hurt

A search operation has been launched to track the terrorists

The terrorists shot at Wagay, 39, his wife Aaina Akthar, 32, and their niece in the Behibagh area of Kulgam district, they said, adding that all three were rushed to hospital in Srinagar. The former soldier succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.

Security forces, comprising police, CRPF and army personnel, launched a search operation for the terrorists who fled after the attack.

While Wagay, who retired from the army in 2021, had received bullet injuries in the stomach, his wife and daughter had leg injuries. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. Wagay was from Territorial Army Battalion based in south Kashmir.
