72 new dengue cases in city; tally at 1,066

As temperatures began to dip, Delhi's dengue cases appeared to stabilise, with the city recording 72 new infections in the past week, taking the total case count to 1,06 till October 25, according to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)’s weekly vector-borne disease report.

The number of weekly dengue cases has plateaued over the last three weeks, with 79, 75, and 72 cases reported successively. The report stated that no confirmed — dengue-related deaths have been recorded so far.

However, the ongoing strike by domestic breeding checkers (DBCs), field workers under the MCD's public health department, has entered its 3ist day as of October 20, significantly affecting vector-control activi-

ties. The MCD’s latest report shows that only 70,530 houses and sites were inspected for mosquito breeding last week, with 675 found positive.
