A 55-year-old man was mowed down by a CNG-powered Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus, two days after seven people were killed and 42 were injured after an electric vehicle from the same state-owned agency barrelled through vehicles and pedestrians at high speed in a crowded market in Kurla area of Mumbai.
MUMBAI:
Police said the incident took place on Wednesday evening near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in south Mumbai, when a biker hit a 55-year-old hawker who fell on the road and was mowed down by a speeding BEST bus. "Around 4.15 pm on Wednesday, a biker rammed into Hasenar Anduhi, a hawker, near the CSMT, due to which Anduhi fell on the road. Just then, a speeding BEST bus going towards the Electric House in south Mumbai from Anushakti Nagar, ran over him," an official said. "The pedestrian came under the rear wheel of the BEST bus and died on the spot."
