Heavy rain causes acute waterlogging; Ganga, Yamuna swell in 24 hours

Heavy rainfall in the city on Wednesday morning disrupted the lives of residents as low-lying localities and roads witnessed acute waterlogging.

After an overcast sky, continuous rains for nearly two hours on Wednesday morning which started around 8am, gave a tough time to school going children as well as officer goers as acutely waterlogged main roads and bylanes forced commuters to wade through knee deep water.

Power outages, another outcome of heavy rains also affected the residents as it caused disruptions in water supply to some localities.

Some of the city localities grossly affected owing to heavy rainfall included Leader Road, Katju Road, Rambagh, Bai-Ka-Bagh, Rambhavan Chauraha, Mutthiganj, Gaughat, Naini, Kydganj, Katra, Dhoomanganj, etc.

Water entered some of the houses in low-lying Jafri Colony in densely populated Kareli locality.
