HC directs U.P. to appoint man acquitted in spying case as ADJ

PRAYAGRAJ:

The high court asked the state to issue an appointment letter to the petitioner Pradeep Kumar by January 15, 2025. He had passed the higher judicial examination (HJS) in 2017. A person with minimum seven years' of practice as a lawyer, minimum age of 35 and maximum age of 45 can apply for HJS.

Allowing a writ petition filed by Pradeep Kumar, a division bench comprising Justice Saumitra Dayal Singh and Justice Donadi Ramesh observed, "The petitioner was 'honourably acquitted' at two criminal trials faced by him and no element of truth was found in the prosecution story, in either case."
