HARIDWAR: With the Char Dham Yatra set to commence today, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya and the ceremonial opening of the portals of Yamunotri and Gangotri shrines, Uttarakhand police has made elaborate security arrangements.

This was confirmed by Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth during a briefing with police officials in Haridwar on Tuesday.

DGP Seth also laid the foundation stone of the new administrative building at the SIDCUL police station and later inspected the Char Dham registration centre at Rishikul Ground.

"All necessary arrangements related to security, traffic management, and policing have been made for the Char Dham Yatra, which begins on April 30. I have already briefed all district police chiefs, and round-the-clock monitoring will be carried out to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage," said DGP Seth.

An enhanced police presence has been deployed along sensitive routes of the Char Dham circuit. According to the state police chief, over 6,000 personnel—including members of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PRD)—have been deployed for yatra duty.

In Bihar, the INDIA bloc fights a perception battle
