HC grants parents of Walayar sisters relief from arrest

COURT HAS ASKED CBI TO NOT TAKE COERCIVE ACTION AGAINST PARENTS
KOCHI: The Kerala high court on Wednesday restrained the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from taking any coercive action, including arrest, against the parents of two Dalit girls who were allegedly raped and later found dead in Walayar in 2017.
Justice C Jayachandran granted the interim relief on a plea moved by the parents, seeking the dismissal of the charge sheet filed against them by the central probe agency. CBI, in the supplementary charge sheet filed in January 2025, had accused the parents of abetting the rape of their daughters.
