Upscale areas go dark as technical glitch causes 8-hour outage

Despite the tall claims of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) of providing an uninterrupted power supply, several upscale localities in Ludhiana, plunged into power blackout for over eight hours on Saturday night, forcing residents to endure a sleepless night.

The worst-hit areas included the District Administrative Complex, Feroze Gandhi Market, Kipps Market, College Road, and Sarabha Nagar, among others.

The outage began around 8:20 pm and continued till early Sunday morning, leaving many residential and commercial establishments in complete darkness.

According to PSPCL officials, the power disruption was prompted due to a technical snag in the 66 KV underground cables near Sarabha Nagar. "The fault impacted over 15 feeders of 11 KV, severely affecting power supply to areas under Aggar Nagar, Model Town and City West division."
