K'TAKA Ministers Criticised the Issues of Poor Coordination Between the Organisers and Administration
BENGALURU: The Karnataka government leadership, especially deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar, came under fire from both his party colleagues and the opposition over the "hasty" approval for Royal Challengers Bangalore's Indian Premier League (IPL) victory celebration that led to a crush killing 11 people in the state capital.
Two ministers in chief minister Siddaramaiah's government publicly questioned the decision-making behind Wednesday's celebrations, while the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party demanded the resignation of both the CM and deputy CM.
Minister Priyank Kharge said the tragedy "could have been avoided with better planning and coordination", while acknowledging that the chief minister has accepted responsibility. The inquiry by the district collector will show what went wrong, he added.
