With 2 More Deaths, Toll in Cylinder Blast Rises to Six

With two more deaths following the gas cylinder explosion that took place in Unkal, the toll rose to six.
BENGALURU: Shankar Chavan (29) and Manjunath Wagmode (22), both residents of Unkal, succumbed to their injuries on Saturday night after spending a week under intensive care at the Karnataka Medical College Research Institute (KMCRI) Hospital.
The explosion, which occurred on December 23 at Unkal Achchhava Colony in Hubballi, injured nine devotees of Lord Ayyappa. Shankar and Manjunath, who had undertaken the "Ayyappa Vratam" for the first time, were among those critically injured. Despite extensive treatment, including intensive care, they did not respond, adding to the mounting toll of this tragedy.
