The BJP and JD(S) Accused the Congress of Using State Funds to Reward Its Cadre Under the Pretext of Governance

BENGALURU: The Karnataka legislative assembly witnessed protests on Tuesday as opposition parties, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (Secular) [JD(S)], objected to the Congress government's decision to entrust party workers with overseeing the implementation of its flagship guarantee schemes.

The opposition called for an immediate dissolution of these committees, arguing that taxpayer-funded programmes should be managed by elected representatives, not political appointees.

The dispute centres on committees set up at state, district and taluk levels to implement the government's five key welfare guarantees, for which ₹51,034 crore has been earmarked in the 2025-26 budget.

The BJP and JD(S) members accused the ruling party of using state funds to reward its cadre under the pretext of governance.
