PM Modi Inaugurates New Railway Terminal in T'gana

Modernisation of railway infrastructure would go a long way in not only providing improved amenities to the passengers but also generating employment to thousands of people and increasing connectivity to the rural areas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday while virtually inaugurating the modernised Cherlapally railway station on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi said that he was fortunate to inaugurate the Cherlapally railway terminal, which has ultramodern facilities for the passengers.

He said the Cherlapally railway terminal had connectivity to the outer ring road (ORR), which would help industrial growth in the region. "This railway station has an advanced feature of running entirely on solar power," he said.

Telangana governor Jishnu Dev Varma praised the transformative impact of initiatives like "Make in India" and the introduction of Vande Bharat trains. He highlighted the remarkable growth of the South Central Railways, with the state's railway budget allocation increasing from ₹58 crore in 2014-15 to ₹5,300 crore in 2024-25.
