TWO ACCUSED — SIRAJ-UR-REHMAN AND SYED SAMEER — WERE ARRESTED ON SUNDAY AFTER COUNTER-INTELLIGENCE POLICE OF ANDHRA PRADESH AND TELANGANA FOILED THEIR PLAN TO INDULGE IN BOMB BLASTS IN HYDERABAD
HYDERABAD: A day after the arrest of two terror suspects in a joint operation by the counter-intelligence police of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for their alleged plan to indulge in bomb blasts in Hyderabad, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday stepped in to take over the probe, police said.
The two accused — Siraj-ur-Rehman (29) from Vizianagaram town and Syed Sameer (28) from Bhoiguda in Secunderabad region of Hyderabad — were arrested from their respective places. They were produced before a local court in Vizianagaram on Sunday evening. They were remanded to 14-day judicial custody.
The Vizianagaram Town-II police in Andhra Pradesh registered a case against the duo under Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, Sections 13 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and Sections 113, 147, 148, 149, and 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
