Advocates seek SIT for probe into '12 rape and murder case

A group of advocates and activists met chief minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Wednesday, seeking the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) for a fresh probe into the circumstances surrounding the 2012 rape and murder of Soujanya and other similar cases in Dharmasthala.

The delegation, led by CS Dwarkanath, former chairman of the Karnataka State OBC Commission, submitted a memorandum to the chief minister highlighting the need for a fresh and impartial investigation. The group pressed for the SIT to be headed by an Indian police service (IPS) officer to ensure credibility and neutrality in the probe.
