Rao Was Detained After the Authorities Recovered 14.8 kg Gold from Her Possession

BENGALURU: Kannada actress Ranya Rao was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) for allegedly smuggling gold at the Bengaluru international airport on Tuesday, officials aware of the matter said, adding that she is the stepdaughter of a senior police officer belonging to the tank of director general of police (DGP).

Ranya was detained on Monday night after the authorities recovered 14.8 kg gold from her possession. She was subsequently taken for a medical examination on Tuesday. Later, she will be presented before a special court dealing with economic offences, they added.
