BJP delegation meets guv, seeks withdrawal of land pooling policy

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation led by party state chief Sunil Jakhar and national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Friday met governor Gulab Chand Kataria and demanded the withdrawal of the notification issued by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government to 'forcibly' acquire farmers' land under the land pooling policy.

Calling the policy 'illegal and unconstitutional' Jakhar, while speaking to reporters after the meeting, said that the BJP stands firmly with farmers and will not allow even an inch of land to be acquired without their consent.

"The Punjab government's land pooling policy has not yet framed any rules or regulations, making it unclear how severe the next phase of this 'loot' will be," Jakhar said, warning that his party would also approach the courts against this 'unconstitutional' land grab.
