Beyond Engineering and Commerce: IIMs Open Direct Doors for Class XII Students

While most students gravitate toward Engineering and Commerce after Class XII, a growing number are discovering a lesser-known yet increasingly attractive pathway: direct admission to India's prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) right after completing their board examinations.

Over 10 IIMs are now offering either 5-year Integrated MBA programs or undergraduate courses in Management, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Public Policy through competitive examinations like IPMAT, JIPMAT, and CUET. Students from Commerce, Science, and Humanities streams—even those without Mathematics as a subject—can now access world-class management education through institutions including IIM Indore, Bangalore, Kozhikode, Shillong, Rohtak, Amritsar, Sambalpur, Ranchi and Jammu. The financial prospects are equally compelling. In 2025, IIM Indore reported an average salary package of ₹27.2 lakh per annum for its graduates, with the highest package reaching an impressive ₹1.14 crore—figures that underscore the immense value proposition of this educational pathway.
