New school building designed for pupils with special needs

PAIGNTON Academy has unveiled a new state-of-the-art building and sensory garden designed to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, marking a major step forward in inclusive education in Torbay.

The £1.25m project at the school's Borough Road site was funded by Torbay Council and the Thinking Schools Academy Trust.

The facilities officially opened after the Easter break and have already begun transforming the experience of pupils who require additional support.

Purpose-built to cater for a range of needs, the new SEND building features adaptable classrooms, intervention spaces, accessible hygiene facilities, and flexible breakout areas tailored to pupils' sensory, emotional, and social needs.
