Compelling stories about life, loss and the power of hope

EVERYONE has a story tell and as I discover nearly every week on the volunteer show on Riviera FM, some stories can move me tears.

Every Tuesday between 10am and 1pm, I invite someone into the studio to discuss their organisation and normally the volunteers without whom they would be unable to function.

The people I have the privilege to chat to on the show are endlessly fascinating, dedicated and often driven in a way that is above and beyond the average and I am often left wondering how we would manage without people like them.

Only last week, I was lucky enough to chat to Karen about her decision to become a baton bearer in the baton of hope suicide prevention initiative, which takes place in Torbay at the end of September.

She is one of more than 100 people from the bay, all either suicide survivors or people who have been bereaved by suicide, who will be carrying the baton in a relay from Torquay to Paignton to Brixham and back to Torquay for a finale event on September 30.
