Messi's Kerala visit called off over foul-play

Blame game has started soon after the cancellation of the much-hyped visit of Argentine Football team headed by star striker Lionel Messi to Kerala in October this year.
State government’s commercial partner, Reporter Broadcasting Company, the firm entrusted with reaching an agreement to bring the World Champions for its ambitious project, accused the Argentine Football Association (AFA) of cheating after accepting a payment of Rs130 crore ($14.8 million, approximately).
Anto Augustine, managing director of Reporter Broadcasting Company, the owners of Reporter television channel, claimed the AFA has not honoured its word.
According to the contract signed last year, the Argentine men’s team, specifically including Messi, was supposed to play two friendly matches in Kerala, either in the FIFA window in October (6-14) or in November (10-18), Augustine said.
