Kerala High Court rejects parole plea of TP killer

The Kerala High Court has turned down a parole application for Sijith, also known as Annan Sijith, who is currently serving a life sentence for killing TP Chandrasekharan.
Chandrasekharan was a prominent leader of the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist), who later founded the breakaway Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP).
Sijith’s wife filed the plea for his temporary release from prison so he could attend the Choroonu (a traditional rice-giving ceremony) for their child.
Chandrasekharan was brutally attacked and killed on a public road 13 years ago while he was returning home alone on a motorcycle.
A court later found the murder stemmed from a desire for revenge related to the CPI (M)'s loss in the Vatakara constituency during the parliamentary elections.
