Al Wasl hammer Al Dhafra in ADIB Cup opener

Al Wasl produced a commanding comeback performance as they overturned an early deficit to record a 5-1 away win over Al Dhafra in gameweek one of the ADIB Cup.

The hosts struck first after just 15 minutes when Rayan Yaslam rose brilliantly to meet Mohammed Elkhaloui's pinpoint cross, guiding a diving header into the far corner to break the deadlock.

Al Wasl responded before the interval with a moment of quality from N'Guessan Jean Kouadio, who unleashed a superbly struck effort from inside the penalty area to draw his side level heading into halftime.

The visitors took control just after the hour mark through a well-constructed move down the right.

Pedro Malheiro beat his marker with pace and precision before cutting inside and squaring for Renato Junior, who applied a composed close-range finish to put Al Wasl in front.

With momentum firmly on their side, Adama Diallo then delivered the decisive blow with a quickfire brace inside ten minutes.
