Sudden lane change, distracted driving leading causes of traffic accidents
The Ministry of Interior has released eye-opening traffic statistics for 2024, with a staggering 10,174,591 speeding violations caught by radars across the emirates.
Abu Dhabi topped the list with over five million speeding violations, followed by Dubai with over 2 million and Sharjah with over a million. The other emirates recorded under a million offences.
The most alarming statistic was that there were over five million instances of drivers exceeding the maximum speed limit by 20km/h and more than four million instances of drivers exceeding the maximum speed limit by no more than 30km/h.
