HIPA: Italian photographer wins $200,000 Grand Prize

Italian photographer Gianluca Gianferrari won the $200,000 Grand Prize at the 14th annual awards ceremony of the Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA).

Shaikh Mansoor Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee, awarded the winners at the ceremony held at the Museum of the Future yesterday.

Gianferrari's photograph captured a dramatic scene of Mount Etna in Sicily, with the earth's interior spewing flames and glowing fragments of lava scattering across pure white snow.
