Tensions flared ahead of a match between Pakistan and hosts UAE yesterday, as a dispute between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) caused confusion and delayed the start of play by over an hour.

The match, crucial for Paki stan’s qualification to the tour nament’s Super Four stage, was initially scheduled to begin at 6:30pm. However, just hours before the scheduled start, the PCB instructed its players to re main at their team hotel, citing unresolved concerns stemming from Pakistan’s previous high profile encounter with India.
