123 HOMES DEVELOPMENT AWAITING PLANNING APPROVAL
A COUNCIL-Owned car park near Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre and by Grimsby & Cleethorpes Canoe Club's building off Fisherman’s Wharf, is being formally removed as a car park.
The move is to support future Alexandra Dock housing, which remains pending planning approval.
At the latest meeting of the portfolio holder for housing, infrastructure and transport, Cllr Stewart Swinburn (Conservative - Immingham Ward) signed off on this and a number of road restriction changes across the borough.
These include a new designated loading bay by Riverhead Square, and traffic regulation orders (TROs) linked to two schools, and also part of Freeman Street area in Grimsby.
In total, 123 homes are proposed in the Alexandra Dock housing development, and three commercial units. Removal of the car park is necessary to deliver the first phase of this, a council report states.
The car park, located off Fisherman’s Wharf, has already been removed from operational use.
Rubble lines its entrance, and its pay and display machine was removed at a cost of £486.
