PATRONS of the Valiant Sailor in Capel-le-Ferne say they are “gutted” after owners confirmed that the clifftop pub is closing its doors.

Bosses have confirmed that they are calling last orders due to “financial pressures”.

The pub has served the community for more than 200 years, having first opened in 1819.

New management took over the establishment in April of this year but, just six months on, the team have announced the historic watering hole is closing.

Sharing the news on social media last Wednesday (October 29), the Valiant Sailor team said: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of the Valiant Sailor.
