MEA raises Indian student handcuff incident with US

The ministry of external affairs on Tuesday raised the issue with the US embassy after an Indian student was detained by the authorities in the US, news agency ANI reported, citing sources.

The ministry said that the Indian embassy in Washington DC and the Indian Consulate in New York have also been in touch with the US authorities to ascertain the details of the incident.

It further said that it had not yet received any details about the incident or the circumstances under which the student was restrained, the flight he had to board or had boarded and his final destination.
