India’s renewable energy capacity at 256 GW: Joshi

INDIA'S RENEWABLE ENERGY capacity has reached 256 gigawatt (GW) as of September 2025, Union minister for newand renewable energy Pralhad Joshi said on Thursday.
The country added 23 GW of renewable energy capacity in the first five months of the current financial year 2025-26.
Of the total capacity, solar energy accounted for 127.33 GWandwind capacity stood at 53.12 GW.
“This progress reinforces India’s commitment to achieving 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030, driving the nation’s clean energy future,” Joshi said ina post on X.
The country aims to achieve 500 GW capacity by the end of 2030and 1,800 GW by 2047.
