Fiscal deficit at 85.8% of RE in Apr-Feb

THE CENTRE'S FISCAL deficit stood at 85.8% of the annual target for April-February of the current financial year, with capital expenditure growing by less than 1%.

This suggests that the fiscal deficit for the full year may come in lower than the budgeted 5.8% of GDP.

In comparison, the fiscal deficit was 86.5% of the annual target during the same period in FY24.

The fiscal deficit for the first 11 months of FY25 was ₹13.5 lakh crore—10% lower than the ₹15 lakh crore recorded in the corresponding period last year.
