Foreign Inflows into Govt Bonds Hit 5-Month High

FOREIGN INFLOWS INTO government bonds through the fully accessible route (FAR) touched a five-month high in August. Experts attributed higher inflows to the widening of the spread between US treasury and Indian yields.
In August, government bonds received inflows worth ₹9,690 crore, compared to ₹2,466 crore in July. June witnessed an outflow of ₹718 crore. April and May saw major outflows at ₹11,145 crore and ₹12,317 crore, respectively. Outflows were majorly led by profit booking and narrowed yield spreads.
