Cabinet to Consider Export Promotion Mission Soon: Goyal

The Government is making fast progress in formulating the Export Promotion Mission (EPM) and it will be going to cabinet very soon, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said Thursday.

The EPM was announced in this year's budget and outlay for the current financial year has been kept at ₹2,250 crore. Though for the full duration of the mission that will run till 2030-31 the outlay is likely to be pegged at ₹25,000 crore.

The minister said that the government is trying to be innovative in designing the mission so that the exporters get "bigger bang for every buck spent". "There are very many ways to benefit. We will use a lot of innovative methods (in the EPM)," the minister told reporters.

He also said that the current year's allocation will be enough to get for the mission as half the year would be over by the time it gets rolled out.
