Woman disabled by driver's 'lapse in concentration'

A PEDESTRIAN was left permanently disabled after being hit by a driver on a zebra crossing in Dawlish, a court heard.
Jacqueline Wright, 62, was behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta that hit the woman on Exeter Road in January 2024. The court was told it happened during terrible weather conditions and was caused by Wright's "momentary lapse in concentration."
The victim was left with serious injuries to her arm that she will have to live with for the rest of her life.
Wright, of Elmwood Crescent in Dawlish, was given a community order and banned from driving for a year at Exeter Magistrates' Court.
