Merger of colleges could lead to even more opportunities

BETWEEN them they are responsible for teaching more than 20,000 students, employing more than 1,300 people, and now two of Devon's biggest colleges could be on the verge of a merger.

Exeter College and Petroc, which has campuses in Tiverton and Barnstaple, are considering combining forces.
Talks have been going on behind the scenes for several months but this week both institutions went public as they look at creating “a deeper collaboration” with each other.
The boards of governors at both colleges have now agreed to begin formal discussions about the possibility of merging, with consultations set to take place with parents, carers, students and other stakeholders.
