Zelensky flies to Biden summit on first foreign visit since start of war

UKRAINE'S president Volodymyr Zelensky was today travelling to Washington for a summit with Joe Biden - his first foreign trip since Russia's invasion began in February.
Mr Zelensky, pictured, was also due to address a joint session of Congress and take part in bilateral meetings in the surprise visit to the US capital.
"On my way to the US to strengthen resilience and defence capabilities of Ukraine," Mr Zelensky wrote on Twitter, adding that he would be discussing co-operation between the US and Ukraine with President Biden. The White House today confirmed that the Pentagon was preparing to send Patriot surface-to-air missiles to the country to help protect power infrastructure against Russian attacks.
