FTSE rises from wreckage of Boris's political storm

WHEN the Prime Minister was first elected there was talk in the City of a "Boris bounce", a boosterish rise in shares as optimism spread.
There wasn't quite that today, but there was a recovery from Tuesday's carnage when the FTSE 100 lost more than 200 points amid fears of a global recession.
Today it regained 106 points to 7130, a relief to Boris fans in the City who feared it would plunge below 7000 as he clings on to power.
The biggest risers were all financial stocks. Abrdn rose 11p to 160p, the London Stock Exchange was up 262p to 7690p and Hargreaves Lansdown added 26p to 790p.
