'LIFE-SAVING' EMERGENCY SURGERY FOR SARAH AFTER SHE FLEW BACK FROM JAMAICA

- By HANNAH ROBINSON AND HOWARD LLOYD

A CHELMSFORD woman has told of her wedding day nightmare due to a health condition.

Sarah Wintrip noticed a pain in her groin during the flight over to Jamaica to marry Luke Wintrip, 36, in May this year, but her friends dismissed it as a gym injury.

The 38-year-old began feeling more “uncomfortable” throughout her big day but ignored it to stop her guests from suspecting anything.

However it became so painful that she was forced even to refuse to have a first dance. During her wedding night, the mother-of-three was in “huge amounts of pain” and woke up feeling “delirious” and feverish.

After flying home on May 20, paramedics rushed Sarah straight to hospital and doctors found a “huge” cyst in her groin that had turned septic so she had “life-saving” surgery to remove it.

The marketing chief executive has an open wound in her groin while doctors wait for the abscess to heal.

The mother, who lives in Chelmsford, has now urged other people to “go with their gut” and get checked out if they fear something is wrong with their health.

She said: “I would never have expected this to happen on my wedding day. We've still not consummated the wedding. We've really tested the wedding vows in sickness and health.”
