City Chambers is not the place for student politics

With a bursting agenda of 11 items needing decision, mostly with important financial implications, you would think the last council meeting of the year would be a chance to drop the juvenile virtue signalling this council has become known for.

Alas, the student politicians in the Chambers insist on carrying on regardless. This time it was a motion, submitted late for the agenda, calling for "solidarity" with Palestine Action hunger strikers. Thankfully, the Lord Provost ruled this wasn't an "emergency" the council needed to discuss but don't bet against it being resubmitted in future.

Over the past few years, we have seen loads of motions from far-left councillors putting forward their views on matters that are nothing to do with providing local council services.
